All that glitters
Being a bit of a magpie I loved it when these Star Dust boxes dropped on my desk! I just love a bit of sparkle and these are brilliant because they save me mixing my own glitter sizes.
I always advise when applying glitter to the face to try and go for a few different sizes if you want your application to blend.
That's why I love this, the pieces of glitter are all different and you can create a cool look easily. Really fine glitter should be kept to one small area, it's not great when you sprinkle it all over.
Now you probably seen the glitter lips before, they've been around a while but they are fab for doing a more creative look. I wouldn't say glitter on the mouth was the most comfortable for a night out but for fancy dress or festivals they look really effective. What is even better is that you can pop into your local Superdrug to pick them up.
I love that this is all available on the high street and these holographic pots from Topshop are also fab. I really like the shades of these and the size of the pieces. They come in different options and are really small so handy to just pop in your kit.
If you want to go that step further then I like the Gypsy Shrine mix and match face jewels. Whenever I am doing an Avant Garde shoot I start by looking in my kit and seeing what I have to work with and my ideas span from that. Having a good variety of embellishments and gems to use is always good. I have a seperate little bag that I can add to my kit when I know I'll be doing something a bit more creative. It's not often you get the opportunity on shoots to really push the makeup look but when you do it's so much fun! I try to arrange little shoots like this for myself every so often just to get excited about doing something different.
