How do we cut down on all our lotions and potions for holidays, it's so hard to travel without all your bits. But how much do we need?
A great way to take more is to decant products into smaller pots or bottles. MUJI are great for picking up travel size bottles or cream tubs and you can take them on the plane when they're under100ml. You don't need to take all your full bottles, they just take valuable kilo's that could be used for more shoes!
Keeping your skin hydrated is really important so I always take a rich moisturiser. The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream is really intense and is suitable for all skin types. It has an spf 15 but I never rely on spf in products when I'm in the sun, always add your sunscreen additionally. Ask for a sample pot when you purchase because this can be your handy travel size option.
Getting a good suntan lotion is really important for getting a deep and safe tan. Never let your skin burn, it just peels and you end up all patchy. Wearing a higher sun factor still allows you to tan but it lasts longer and avoids you burning. I always use factor 20 over my holiday and it may take a little longer to get that sunkissed glow but when I come home it lasts well into winter. I hate applying lotion so a spray is my preferred option. Whenever I go to Spain I get an amazing one but I can't find it in the UK so I stock up.
I also really recommend the Nivea invisible cooling mist. It's a completely transparent spray so you can cover the body quickly. It's so easy to top up when you need to and you don't need anyone's helping hand to do your back. These are also brilliant for children. If yours are like mine I can't catch them for long enough to put the cream on so these sprays do the job in about 10 seconds. When applying to your face I prefer to spray it into my hands and then rub it onto my face. Definitely with the kids so it doesn't go in their eyes.
Having a facial spritz is a great way to get additional moisture into the skin. I have the B. Confident Hyaluronic Acid Spritz. It is designed to lock in moisture for 12 hours and it also works as a refresher over makeup when you want to lift your skin a little throughout the day.
If like me you don't like going on your hols without looking like you've been there for 2 weeks already then you should get a spray tan before you go. Go for a light tan so it can wear off evenly. Oils will start to break the tan down so using creams will keep it lasting longer. Enhance your tan with a shimmer lotion.
Golden oils are nice to add extra moisture and glisten in one. The solait shimmer oilmedium tan is perfect to lightly add colour and sheen. It is a favourite for makeup artists on shoots too!
I also love the St Tropez skin illuminator in Gold. I add this to by body lotions and do a single application all over the body. It catches the light and looks radiant and flawless.
Sleep time is a great opportunity to hydrate and energise the skin. A sleep mask will give you hydration whilst replenishing and calming the skin after it's been in the sun. The Glamglow Thirsty mud mask is gorgeous. It can also be used daily and on flights for those of you who are seasoned travellers. Your skin is left glowing and restored. Take a little pot for your holiday and use every few days.
