It’s literally festival mania at the moment and everyone wants tips and tricks for the fun summer days. What could be more perfect than an excuse to see all my CLMA lot?
Every Quarter at the Cassie Lomas Makeup Academy I hold a Masterclass for all our graduates to come and learn some extra tips and tricks. With Festival Season in full flow I thought there is no better time to hold a Festival Masterclass to experiment with some alternative looks and hopefully give the artists a bit of inspiration and some time saving tips. Festival Season is so exciting because it’s the one time you can go all out and create beautiful but cool looks and add splashes of glitter and colour, you really can let your creative juices flow!
My first look was created using stencils and glitter. I buy all my glitter from art shops usually and the particular ones I used in this demo were chunky pieces which I find easier to work with. It still goes everywhere but it’s easier to clean up. I used a pre-made stencil and some glitter glue to create a gorgeous shooting star. I also layered the glitter to create a rainbow effect. What do you think? I teamed this with barely there makeup because when you’re making a statement you don’t need much but the focal point.
My second look was experimenting with coloured gel eyeliners. I wanted to create a look that was a bit more subtle and quicker to do than the first. I think it was great to create two opposite yet stand out festival looks so that if one isn’t your vibe you may like the other. I did one eye freehand by doing a swishy winged look and the other side I showed them the stencil technique again with flames.
I took my inspiration from an image I found on the internet when I was searching for ideas.
Carrying on the festival vibe I was working with my favourite brand B. Makeup on the Superdrug beauty bus this week. We pitched up outside Westfield and held a press day to talk about makeup and trends.
I went through a few of the ways we can create looks without having to buy specific makeup. You can see here I created an ombré effect shape using the B. Liquid lip colours. There’re great because they dry into the skin and stay put.
I also love the pigments to mix with my illuminator and get a gorgeous metallic high shine look. You can use this to create any shapes and they look great when they hit the sun.
So head down to your local art shop and pick up some sticky back plastic and get cutting. This is so easy to recreate at home.
